Vampire romance
Immortal, hungry, and very old-fashioned about what is his. Vampire romance is the original monster romance: the bite as intimacy, blood as currency, and a hero who has to choose every night not to hurt the person he wants. Modern entries swing from gothic slow burn to full romantasy war, often with courts, bloodlines, and a heroine who is more than she looks. The appeal is danger made devoted: a predator who decides you are the exception. Overlaps with dark romance, forbidden, fated mates, and enemies-to-lovers, and heat ranges from lush to unhinged.
